General Dental check-ups and preventative care
Prevention is far better and cheaper than cure
Six monthly check-ups are recommended to examine and treat teeth and gums in order to prevent gum disease and tooth loss.
We check all aspects of potential dental issues such as teeth, gums, jaw joints, soft tissues and of course, your smile.
We always do a full scale and polish at every check-up. Each visit we advise on the best oral care for your individual needs to keep everything nice and healthy between check-ups.
For best oral dental health
We recommend our patients follow these 5 tips:
- Brush daily, ideally twice.
- Floss every time you brush
- Regular (6 monthly) professional preventive care including Dental examination & thorough scaling, prophylaxis & fluoride treatment.
- Take steps to ensure saliva quality & quantity is ideal.
- Only feed the germs on your teeth a maximum of 5-6 times/day.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
A wisdom tooth is extracted to correct an actual problem/pain or to prevent problems that may come occur in the future.
It is commonly misunderstood that disease & pain do not go hand in hand. Pain is normally only present during later stages of disease.
It is best to perform (where appropriate) wisdom tooth extraction well before they cause pain. It is ideal to begin assessing wisdom teeth from the age of 16-18yrs. By monitoring, the best time for their removal can be planned. Most wisdom tooth removal is performed following pain. This is after their development is complete & therefore risk of potential damage to the Inferior Dental Nerve during their removal is no longer avoidable.
