Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are just two of the popular restorative options we offer at My Dentist, helping a patient to improve their smile and bite. Our dental team are highly-experienced and trained within these procedures, plus we only use trusted, local labs and safe materials to create our restorations.

Dental Crowns

Our custom-made porcelain crowns can be likened to a ‘cap’, which restores and protects a tooth when its structure has become compromised. This can happen due to a number of reasons, including:

  • Trauma or injury to the tooth
  • Excessive tooth decay
  • Cracks or chips in the tooth

To begin the crown-making process, our dentist will take impressions of your tooth, before sending these to our experienced, local lab. This can take approximately 2-3 weeks, however a temporary crown will be fitted during this time to prevent discomfort or sensitivity.

Once the custom crown has been made, our dentist will prepare your tooth to have the crown fitted. This involves a careful reshaping of the tooth to ensure the crown blends in with the size and shape of your surrounding teeth.

Dental Bridges

The process of obtaining a dental bridge is quite similar to that of a crown, as our dentist begins by examining your mouth and taking necessary impressions to send off to the lab. The bridge and crowns are then created and sent back, allowing our team to begin the fitting stage. Once in place, patients can enjoy not just an aesthetically-pleasing smile, but a more functional bite too.

We advise patients fitted with a crown or bridge to still attend regular check-ups, so we can ensure correct oral health and hygiene is maintained.
