For a More Confident, Beautiful Smile

We also offer a number of cosmetic dental services here at My Dentist, including veneers. Veneers are a quick and simple solution for those wanting to enhance the front of their smile. Not only are our team of dental professionals highly-experienced with this procedure, but they have also helped thousands of patients over the years to achieve the smile of their dreams using veneers.

What Are Veneers?

A veneer is a thin layer of ceramic material placed over the surface of your tooth. They’re strong, durable, and extremely natural-looking, helping patients to improve the function and aesthetic of their smile.

Are Veneers Suitable for You?

There are many reasons why a patient may want veneers. This treatment is a straight-forward solution to teeth which are:

  • Crowded
  • Crooked
  • Misaligned
  • Gapped
  • Chipped
  • Stained
  • Worn
  • Discoloured
  • Extensively Filled

Veneers are custom-made in our trusted laboratory to perfectly match your mouth. Their colour, shape, and size look completely natural, helping you to have a more beautiful and confident smile that you’ll want to show off. Additionally, veneers are built to be long-lasting, durable, and stain-resistant. They’re a completely safe and high-quality solution to achieving your perfect smile.

What Are the Different Types of Veneers?

At My Dentist we offer two types of veneers. They vary in by the material they are made of and also cost. There will be a veneer type that is perfect for you.

Composite Veneers

Composite resin veneers are a conservative, affordable alternative to porcelain veneers and can be applied to many different tooth concerns. During this procedure, a putty-like material is applied layer by layer to the front of the teeth. A light is then used to harden the material. Lastly, the veneer is contoured and polished for a completely natural look.

Often, composite veneers can be completed in a single appointment. You can cover chips, stains, misaligned or gapped teeth to gain a striking, perfectly aligned look. Composite resin veneers are applied one layer at a time until the final result is achieved. It’s important to note that the placement of composite veneers requires time and patience to achieve the desired results. We’ll be happy to advise you on an expected time frame at your consultation.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are more expensive but are made of a highly stain resistant and durable material. They require more than one appointment and the use of a dental lab for their construction.

Porcelain veneers are individually made and custom matched to your tooth colour and fit. They are bonded to the front of your teeth. Each veneer is custom-made to individual teeth and the resultant look is extremely natural.

The Veneer Procedure

Illustration of dental veneersOnce our dentist has determined that you’re a perfect candidate for veneers, the process is completed in just two stages. Your teeth will be prepared to receive their veneers before an impression of your teeth is taken to ensure precision during the creation stage. Finally, once your permanent veneers are back from the lab, they will be bonded to the front of your teeth, resulting in your desired smile.

Should I get porcelain veneers or composite ones?

The type of veneers ideal for your smile will depend on the results you desire and your budget. To help you select the type that is best for you, we invite you to schedule a consultation. During this appointment, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of porcelain and composite ones so you can choose how you would like to move forward.

Am I a candidate?

Most people will be able to get veneers but there are a few contraindications. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, you likely are not a candidate. That’s because you will probably chip and wear down these shells from grinding your teeth. In certain instances, however, we can provide you a custom night guard to wear at night to protect your veneers from damage. Individuals with gum disease or weakened teeth likely won’t be able to get veneers.

We will go over any possible contraindications at your consultation and ensure that veneers are suitable for you before beginning treatment.

How long will veneers last?

They can last for many years as long as you care for them properly. Care includes brushing, flossing and having biyearly dental checkups. Porcelain shells will last the longest—up to 10-15 years—provided they are cared for properly.

Do you suggest any ways to extend the life of my veneers?

Yes, they will last longer if you keep several things in mind. In addition to maintaining excellent home hygiene habits and checkups with us, know that hard substances will harm your veneers. Never open packages with your teeth or chew on ice. A good thing to remember is this: anything that could harm your regular teeth can damage your veneers.

What will the cost be to get them?

It depends on the number of teeth you’d like to have veneers applied to. We will detail pricing with you after we determine how many you’ll need.

Will my smile appear natural if I get veneers?

Yes. Our objective is to ensure your smile looks entirely natural when your treatment has been completed. One of the ways we do that is through colour-matching your veneers to your preferences. We want to be sure that the shade is appropriate for you. The custom fittings also will be crafted in the shape that you prefer. Some patients opt to have slight imperfections added to their veneers to give them a more natural appearance. We’ll ensure that you’re delighted with how they look.
