Root Canals

Root canal therapy (also known as endodontic therapy) is another common procedure offered at My Dentist.

While this treatment used to take multiple visits and lengthy procedures, we are pleased to say that modern technological advancements have significantly reduced both the time and discomfort usually associated with this treatment.

Our highly experienced team of dental professionals are able to perform root canal therapy when a tooth’s nerve (or pulp) has become infected or when decay is dangerously close to the tooth’s nerve. Your jaw has a nerve supply that runs to all teeth, providing them with the blood flow they need. If this is compromised due to infection, the tooth can die out, requiring extraction.

Are You a Candidate for Root Canal Therapy?

In some cases, it can be difficult for a patient to determine whether their tooth pain or discomfort requires the speedy attention that root canal concerns call for. If you’re experiencing any of the following signs and symptoms, we recommend that you schedule a visit to our practice as soon as possible.

  • A large dental cavity
  • An abscess
  • Dental pain or discomfort that can be described as severe
  • Loss of tooth structure due to trauma or injury

The Root Canal Procedure

Thankfully, root canal therapy is a fairly straight-forward procedure, involving the removal of an infected tooth’s pulp and nerve. Our dentist will begin by removing decay and bacteria from the affected area, before the site is sealed to prevent additional infection. We also offer a range of sedation options to ensure your experience is as pain-free and comfortable as possible.
